COMMON QUESTIONS
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I am an out of network provider. Therapy is often covered by insurance, however, and I am happy to provide you with the required documentation (called a superbill) needed for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. The majority of clients find this works very well for them. I encourage you to contact your insurance carrier with questions about your specific plan and coverage for mental health services. Couples therapy is generally not covered by health insurance, some exceptions may apply.

Some questions you may want to ask your insurance company include:
-
Does my plan include Out-of-Network benefits?
-
If yes, what is the Out-of-Network deductible?
-
Are individual psychotherapy services covered on my Out-of-Network benefits?
-
If yes, what percentage is covered once my deductible is met?
-
Where do I send claims for reimbursement?
Some helpful information to know about health insurance. Health insurance companies bring with them some limitations. I have often said it can be like having a third party participating in our time together. Insurance companies require a diagnosis be provided to them and subsequently tell you what therapy you can be provided and how many sessions you can receive. This is a difficult and sometimes frustrating situation for a therapist and client, as these are decisions that should be made by you and I together. Being an out of network provider allows my clients to decide the frequency and length of their treatment while maintaining their privacy.

I am committed to the belief that wellness and therapy should be accessible to everyone and to providing you the highest quality of care that is right for you. If you have questions about your options I am happy to talk with you about them.
DO YOU OFFERÂ A SLIDING SCALE?
I have reserved a small number of spaces for those needing a sliding scale. Please let me know if this is something of interest to you.
DO YOU PROVIDE TELEHEALTH?
Yes. Telehealth sessions allow you the flexibility of meeting when it's most convenient for you. Many enjoy being able to meet from the comfort of their own home or being able to meet during their lunch break from work.
HOW SOON CAN I BE SEEN?
Under most circumstances if I am accepting new patients at the time of your call you can be seen within 7 days of requesting an appointment.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY
Your therapy appointment is a reserved time for you. If you do not show for your appointment or do not cancel 24 hours in advance you will be responsible for the full cost of the session. I understand illness and weather can be an issue and these are the only exceptions to this policy.
IS WHAT WE TALK ABOUT CONFIDENTIAL?
The confidentiality of communications between a client and psychotherapist are protected by law and information is not disclosed without your written consent. The following are some exceptions to this.
If a child or other vulnerable person such as elderly or disabled person is being abused I am required to report it to the appropriate state agency.
If an individual threatened to harm themselves I am required to take steps to maintain their safety up to and including contacting family or the police.
If an individual in counseling threatens serious bodily harm to another person I am required to notify the potential victim or contact the police.
Finally, a court order might require me to release information contained in records or require me to testify in a court proceeding.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Sometimes it brings a little bit of comfort seeing a counselor near you instead of traveling to a city clinic setting. Renew Wellness is easily reached by those living in Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Orleans, Monroe and Erie Counties.
Renew is located at 26 Harvester Ave. in Batavia, NY, just over 30 minutes outside both Rochester and Buffalo. The office is privately located with a safely lit entrance and parking lot and is handicap accessible.
